Born in 1964 and learned traditional Chinese painting in Taiwan, Xu gained a Master degree in Arts from Fontbonne College in the US. He started with Chinese ink painting and completed the 320m X 1.8m “Taiwan Heritage scroll” in 1996 which was displayed in the provincial art gallery and arousing great excitement. He learned oil painting and sculpture in the US and tried different themes in his creation. His memories of childhood in rural living, paternity and praise for life fill his copper sculptures. Some other pieces including “Tyrannosaurus?!” and “Apple Superman” reflect the ridiculous thinking of modern society.

Xu was awarded the first prize in traditional Chinese painting in the 43rd and 45th Taiwan Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition in 1988 and 1990, respectively. Publications include “Taiwan Heritage Scroll” and “Xu Wen Rong Painting Collection (1) & (2)”.

許文融生於1964年，1984年就讀國立藝專美術科國畫組，1992年獲美國密蘇里州Fontbonne學院藝術碩士學位。他的早期作品以水墨為主，1996年完成長320公尺、高1.8公尺的「大台灣風物圖卷」作品，並獲邀於省立美術館展出，引起藝術界不小的騷動。許文融在美國研讀藝術碩士時主修油畫及雕塑，開始嘗試用不同的素材創作，他的銅雕作品，有充滿童年回憶的鄉間生活題材及親子系列等，充分展現對生命真、善、美的禮讚。他亦有表現出現代人及現代社會的荒謬思維的另類作品，如「暴龍乎」、「蘋果超人」等。

許文融於1985年獲全省學生美展大專組第三名，1988年獲第43屆全省美展國畫類第一名。1990年獲第45屆全省美展國畫第一名。作品曾在多次大型展覽中展出；出版刊物有「大台灣風物圖卷」畫冊及「許文融畫集」（一）及（二）。
